Our resident Shire Horses; Reg and Prince, are the gentle giants of the workforce and the best ambassadors for Weston's heritage.
They are stabled at the Cider Mill where you may spot them being re-shoed by the farrier or out grazing in the neighbouring orchards. They like to see who's coming to visit and love a good roll in the mud!
Historically these strong working horses would've helped us to make cider. Pulling the large and heavy mill stone to crush the cider apples into a juicy pulp.
Now their cider making days are over, but they still work, either at county fairs or as a one-of-a-kind wedding dray ride for the bride and groom. Please speak to our Visitor Centre for more information on our Shires for your private event 01531 660 108 or [email protected].
